Some of the above rides are not for the faint hearted so if you feel like a gentler pace and a pedal back through time then the Mineral Tramway is for you.

This coast to coast route follows the Portreath Tramroad and the Redruth & Chasewater Railway. Built from 1825 it served the mines in the Redruth area and ran to the Village of Devoran. If you finish the Tramway ride at Devoran look out for the Old Carnon Gate just as you leave the track under the road. The gate still in its original position was used on the railway as a crossing.

You can cycle hire from Devoran Cycle Hire (01872 863 142).

There are now 30 Miles of mining trails free to use most of the routes are off road.

The mining trails leaflet is available to download, click here (PDF 1.40mb) or alternatively a copy can be sent out to you. www.cornwall.gov.uk/mineral-tramways
